Educators without Borders (EWB) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) signed on Monday, March 15, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the educational and relief fields.
Dr. Mohamed Albaili Chairman of EWB and Hossam Elsharkawi MENA Regional Director of IFRC signed the agreement on the sidelines of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition (DIHAD).
The two organizations’ commitment to humanitarian, social, volunteering and relief activities is a core objective of the agreement, under which they will coordinate their efforts in the humanitarian and educational fields through joint initiatives and comprehensive programs to implement humanitarian and educational activities to help refugees and needy people around the world.
The MoU stipulates providing educational services in conflict-affected societies, training teachers, and promoting literacy programs as well as providing rehabilitation services to effectively integrate students with disabilities into society.
The two parties also seek, through the MoU, to spread their goals and activities, and to promote tolerance in education by adopting a comprehensive approach through equality, pluralism, and mutual respect.
It is worth mentioning that Educators without Borders is a Geneva-based organization that focuses on providing educational services for children in affected regions and improving training services in crisis areas.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is a humanitarian organization based in Geneva. It comprises 192 member Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies with more than 17 million volunteers.
